Eurêka! Productions emerged in 1999 from the desire of its founders, France Choquette and Jean Roy, to establish a company that would promote openness to the world, education, thought, respect for differences and high-quality human relationships.

Over a decade later, the company has set itself apart and built an enviable reputation in Quebec’s film scene. The richness and quality of its productions bear witness to the care that its managers put into cultivating relationships with highly dedicated partners. Together they have created an atmosphere that favours communication, idea development and creativity.

Eurêka!’s mission is to produce documentaries of impeccable quality in such diverse fields as the arts, history, society and science—in short, all fields of human endeavour.

2010 is going to be a big year for Eurêka! With our team flying off to eight destinations around the world to discover how different societies experience and express their sexuality. The resulting series, Le sexe autour du monde, will be broadcast on TV5 in January 2011. La tête contre le mur, the first medium-length feature by INIS graduate and scholarship winner Halima Elkhatabi, will go into production this year thanks to the support of Télé-Québec and SODEC. Lastly, Eurêka! will continue to promote Quebec film through its webzine, published monthly at www.cinemaquebecois.tv.

Recently, Eurêka! produced Cinéma Québécois, a popular and critically acclaimed series for Télé-Québec, as well as La génération 101 by Claude Godbout. Frédéric Rioux’s documentary, FM-Air, was produced for Canal D.

In the spring of 2008, Eurêka! launched Le Vaisseau amiral, which was chosen for the 26th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) in Montreal. Two years earlier, Krieghoff or the Studio of a Popular Artist was selected for the 24th edition of the same festival. This documentary was broadcast by Artv, TFO, Documentary Channel and Bravo!

Eurêka! also produced the documentary series 100 Québécois qui ont fait le XXe siècle (Télé-Québec) and Les 30 journées qui ont fait le Québec (Historia), and co-produced Je m’en souviens (Historia) with La Presse Télé.

Eurêka! Productions is constantly seeking to document our era by encouraging a wide audience to understand the challenges that our society faces. The company’s managers strive to apply their expertise to the production of high-quality works that will astonish, educate, entertain, challenge and move the audience.
